Hermantown Veterinary Services was recently established in June of 2026 by Dr. Jacob Smith and his wife Breann. The Smith’s also own and operate Ladysmith Veterinary Clinic LLC, a full service mixed animal practice in Ladysmith, Wisconsin.
Dr. Smith and his family have long standing ties to the Twin Ports community. He is a graduate of Hermantown High School, both he and Breann are graduates of the college of St. Scholastica, and he was the final Boy’s Hockey Coach at Duluth Central High School prior to its closure in 2010.
We are excited to be able to return to the Duluth community and provide both small animal and livestock services for years to come.

Dr. Jacob and Breann Smith are happy to once again return to the Duluth community.
Dr. Smith is a graduate of Hermantown High School, and he and Breann are both 2007 graduates of the College of St. Scholastica. Dr. Smith completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 2013.
The Smiths have 5 children, Brooklyn, Masyn, Adalyn, Camdyn and Edyn. The family spends most of their time outside of the clinic involved with athletics, hunting, and travel. Dr. Smith is a longtime youth sports coach, with heavy involvement in youth Hockey, Baseball, and Soccer in both Minnesota and Wisconsin over the years. Dr Smith is also the founder of the Imago Dei Academy, a Classical and Christian School located in Ladysmith, WI.
